Patina exists because of a simple belief: the things we carry every day should be made to last.
Not replaced after a season. Not worn out after a year. Made well, used often, and kept for a long time — improving all the while.
That's what patina means. The mark that time and use leave on quality leather. Evidence of a life lived with good things.

Every Patina piece is made by hand in our Wellington workshop — cut, stitched, and finished one at a time.
We work with a small selection of full-grain leathers, chosen for their quality, their character, and the way they develop over years of use. Nothing is mass produced. Nothing is made in advance.
When you place an order, we make it. That's the only way we know how to do it properly.

The Person Behind It
Patina is a one-person workshop. My name is Shirley, and I make everything you see here.
I came to leatherwork looking for something that couldn't be rushed — a craft that rewards patience and attention. I found that in leather. Every piece I make, I make slowly, and I make it to be kept.
I care about sustainability — not as a marketing angle, but because making things that last is simply the right way to make things. Vegetable-tanned leather, reusable packaging, and a zero-waste approach to
offcuts are just part of how I work.
